Male Infertility. How big is the problem?
Infertility is medically defined as the failure of a couple to become pregnant after one year of regular, unprotected intercourse. Low sperm count in the semen, decreased sperm mobility or abnormal sperm shape is responsible for about 40 – 50 percent of infertility in these couples, according to “Harrison’s Principles of Internal Medicine.” There are numerous reasons for male infertility which should be diagnosed by your doctor. In many cases supplementation with minerals or vitamins can support sperm health.
Male infertility is a problem that tens of millions of men deal with around the world. The Institute of Nutrition reported research that showed insufficient nutrients in men can decrease fertility. Antioxidants provided by vitamins can protect and support healthy reproductive organs in males. Men should begin a consistent regimen of fertility vitamins as early as five months before they desire to conceive.
On average it takes 100 days for sperm to develop (74 to form and 20-30 to mature), therefore taking steps to support sperm health 100 days before conception is extremely important.
We live in an age, where upon we have been “trying” to conceive and start a wonderful family with our wives or partners later and later in life. As the days tick by so does our sperm quality. Like women’s fertility, the optimum time to conceive, get pregnant and have babies for men is from late teenage years into early twenties. Men and women now on average are having their first child at the age of 34. Stress, coffee, alcohol, obesity, free radicals, pesticides and illness have ALL taken their toll on sperm quality over this time.
Enough is enough, we need to try and correct this cycle. We can’t turn back the clock in terms of our age, however we can give our sperm support by taking Vitamenz.
Three main factors make up ‘good sperm’:
- Sperm count (more than 20 million per milliliter of ejaculate)
- Morphology (shape of the sperm)
- Motility (how fast and straight the sperm swim)
